Freedom on two wheels

Those who want to combine culture and nature on their active holiday should take a look at Germany's cycle routes. The leisurely river cycle paths, for example, are ideal for beginners and families. For the more adventurous, the Lake Constance-Königssee cycle path offers a few challenging climbs and stunning views of the Alps. Top tip: you can take bicycles on almost all train routes in Germany – so you can always get back to your starting point in comfort.

Great spots for stargazers

Who said you need a rocket to explore outer space? A holiday in Germany is enough, if you know where to go. Four regions in Germany have been internationally recognised as dark sky areas due to their excellent star visibility. Visitors can also take part in special night walks there, and listen to experienced astronomers explain the celestial spectacle. In other areas, public observatories allow an unobstructed view into space.
