We sat down with Houssam, General Manager of the new luxury property at West Beach, The Palm, to talk rooms, restaurants, and what it takes to compete on one of Dubai's most brand-dense stretches of coastline.

Houssam informed us that Our property is a five-star luxury hotel. We started back in October last year, so we're almost a year old in the Dubai market. We're located at West Beach, in the Palm area. This is our second property, after Mykonos, where we also have a five-star luxury hotel in Greece. Our hotel has 176 rooms and seven restaurants offering different cuisines and concepts: we have sushi, Mediterranean, bars, a cigar lounge, and a matcha cafe. It's a great destination for families.

Houssam further said that our 176 rooms, around 110 are standard or deluxe rooms, though even these have a unique size and design. They're about 30% bigger than the hotels around the area, ranging from 37 to 44, even up to 50 square meters for a standard room, so much bigger than the competition. The rest are suites: our one-bedroom suites start at 75 square meters, and our two-bedroom suites start from around 120 to 130 square meters. So we're targeting the luxury side. In terms of amenities, we are all Amouage. In every room we have a Dyson hair dryer, something new in the industry, and we were among the first to introduce it. In some public areas and restaurants we have Cavalli sofas and Cavalli furniture, and in some places we also have Hermes furniture. Every room has Amouage as standard. We also have a liquid of life dispenser in every room. We're following a green philosophy at the hotel and focused on sustainability, so we're not doing any plastic anymore. It's a UK product called liquid of life, a dispenser that reduces plastic and introduces water to every room.

Talking about the F&B Houssam informed that, it's all about location. Competition is everywhere, in every inch of Dubai, so it's all about location. We have a very, very prime location at West Beach, with easy access in and out and less traffic. When it comes to our rooftop bar, it's amazing, with an infinity pool looking over the sea. We call it Aya rooftop. We also have our spa at the rooftop. Everything is managed in-house. Nothing is outsourced, and it will never be outsourced. Houssam said that his favorite is Papa Gyalo's, the Mediterranean restaurant. It's the food I would recommend most: light on the body, tasty, fresh, healthy, and grilled.

Houssam told us that the Hotel has its own private beach, walking distance, two minutes from the pool side, one can see our private beach just right opposite the building. No water activities, it's all just a relaxing beach access.
